The original agreement has been ratified by Japan and New Zealand. “This is another wake-up call for the U.S.,” says Wendy Cutler, vice president of the Asian Society Policy Institute and a longtime U.S. trade representative who helped negotiate the TPP. “Now you have two mega-agreements in the region, and both will lead to greater integration between the members of these different blocs.” U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat from Massachusetts, said business and industry have disproportionate influence over U.S. trade negotiators. In July 2016, it claimed that 85% of U.S. headquarters were innovating in the use of a combination of U.S. and European approaches to environmental protection. Indeed, this made the TPP much more detailed and specific than ordinary US agreements, whereas it was legally more enforceable than The Europe Agreements. In a speech on the 2016 presidential campaign, Republican Party candidate Donald Trump promised to withdraw the United States from the Trans-Pacific Partnership if elected. He argued that the deal would “undermine” the United States.
The economy and its independence. On November 21, 2016, in a video message, Trump outlined an economic strategy to “put America first,” saying he would “negotiate fair bilateral trade agreements that will bring jobs and industry back to U.S. shores.” As part of that plan, Trump confirmed his intention, on his first day in office, for the United States to withdraw from the Trans-Pacific Partnership. McConnell claimed that the TPP would not be considered at the Lame Duck meeting of Congress before Trump`s inauguration. Trump imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum on Thursday, just hours after 11 nations signed the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a comprehensive trade deal once considered dead after Mr. Trump withdrew from the United States from talks. A September 2016 report by the Institute of Agriculture and Trade Policy (IATP) predicts that “if countries take action to protect the climate, if conflicts between trade rules and climate goals escalate.” :1 The report goes on to say that trade agreements such as the TPP set far-reaching rules for the economy and government policy, thereby expanding trade, often in the commodity sectors, and protecting companies and financial firms from future climate stabilization measures. South Korea did not participate in the 2006 agreement, but showed interest in joining the TPP and was invited by the United States to the December 2010 TPP rounds. . .
